HAVi is the only HAVS specialist to provide an ATEX certified fully integrated solution for measuring exposure to hand arm vibration in hazardous conditions.
Introducing the NEW HAVi ATEX-approved HAVS control solutions
HAVi is the only HAVS specialist to provide an ATEX certified fully integrated solution for measuring exposure to hand arm vibration in hazardous conditions.
The new HAVi ATEX and HAVi Watch ATEX have undergone rigorous design, testing and evaluation procedures to achieve certifications and are now fully approved for safe use in explosive atmospheres.
Our robust and reliable technology will provide intrinsically safe HAVS monitoring and management for offshore and onshore energy, civil infrastucture projects, tunnelling and construction, ensuring clear monitoring and measurement of exposure to vibration for operatives that use powered hand tools in environments classed as hazardous to protect them from the life changing effects of vibration exposure.
What makes the HAVi ATEX and HAVi Watch ATEX different to the existing models?
The bestselling HAVi Trigger Timer unit and HAVi Watch have been completely redesigned with components and casings specifically selected to ensure intrinsic safety at an operating temperature between -5oC and +40oC.
HAVi products carrying ATEX certification will clearly display ATEX’s recognisable ‘Ex’ logo.
What is an explosive atmosphere?
ATEX defines an explosive atmosphere as a mixture of dangerous substances with air, under atmospheric conditions, in the form of gases, vapours, mist or dust in which, after ignition has occurred, combustion spreads to the entire unburned mixture.
Where can explosive atmospheres be found?
Many workplaces may contain, or have activities that produce, explosive or potentially explosive atmospheres. Examples include oil and gas industries where flammable gases or vapours can be released, construction sites, civil infrastructure projects and utility repair/installation.
High risk environments will already have protection in place covering health and safety but never before have these industries had the opportunity to monitor and manage their worker’s exposure to hand arm vibration with an ATEX approved integrated, paperless solution.
What is ATEX approval?
ATEX is a European certification given to equipment that has been thoroughly tested and approved to be intrinsically safe.
1) Directive 99/92/EC (also known as 'ATEX 137' or the 'ATEX Workplace Directive')
2) Directive 94/9/EC (also known as 'ATEX 95' or 'the ATEX Equipment Directive')
Products approved for use in explosive atmospheres by ATEX will always carry the ‘Ex’ logo, this means that it has been fully tested, approved and is safe to use. If an electronic device does not bear the ‘Ex’ logo it must not be brought on site or used in areas that have been classified as areas where explosive atmospheres may occur.
There areas are defined as Zones, ATEX Zone 0 the one of the two most dangerous zone classifications - this is the classification carried by the HAVi ATEX and the HAVi Watch ATEX. ATEX distinguishes between explosive atmospheres that arise because of gases, vapours and mists and those that arise from dusts.
